Master Program PH.D. Program Exchange Program Interrnational Students Program
Anyone who wishes to apply for a Ph.D program in Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE) can apply through the Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Engineering (ASE). The graduate institute integrates six departments (Mathematics, Physics, Life Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electric Engineering) at College of Science and Engineering. Prospective candidates can pursue the following interdisciplinary research fields or other basic areas in the above mentioned departments.

Bio-technology
Opto-Electronic Technology
Electronic System Engineering
Computer Engineering
Scientific Computation.
Life science has strong research collaboration with departments of medicine, food science and nutrition science. Through the graduate school of ASE, one can pursue his/her Ph.D in any basic research area of the above mentioned departments. There is also a new branch in Medical Information which will be in operational soon. You may want to consider this field too.
Application of Admission
For application of admission, please mail the following materials to :
1. Application forms of admission
2. A copy of graduation certificate from the highest foreign educational school or institute completed
3. An official transcript of undergraduate or master degrees
4. Two recommendation letters
5. Study plan
6. Vitae or resume
7. Proof of English Proficiency (eg. TOEFL Score, TSE Score, if available)
8. Application fee
Requirements of Ph.D. degree
The Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Engineering grants Ph.D. degree under the following requirements:
1 16 (minimum) credits of acceptable professional courses, which shall include at least 3 credits non-professional (or integrated course)
2. 4 credits of group seminar and 4 credits of individual study
3 12 credits of thesis (dissertation)
Language requirement (one of the following) :
1. 3 credits of “English Writing of Technology Paper”
2. 213 (or above) on TOEFL
3. Previous degree acquired from an English-speaking country
4. Written and oral comprehensive examinations within first three years
5. One or two SCI journal papers (depending on the research field)
6. Final oral examination (thesis defense)
