Chapter 1: General Provisions

 

Article 1

These Regulations were formulated in accordance with Article 40 of Fu Jen Catholic University Academic Policies.

 

Chapter 2: Undergraduate Program

 

Article 2

Course, credit, and proficiency test requirements for the undergraduate program:

(1)    University requirements: Academic Advising (0 credits, 8 semesters), Military Training Courses (0 credits, 2 semesters)

(2)    Holistic Education Fundamental Courses: 8 credits

(3)    Holistic Education Core Abilities Courses: 12 credits

(4)    Holistic Education General Education Courses: 12 credits

(5)    English courses required by the College of Foreign Languages: 4 credits

(6)    Discipline-specific required courses: 68 credits

(7)    Electives: minimum of 24 credits

(8)    A total of 128 credits are required for graduation. This number includes credits from the following categories: University requirements, the Holistic Education Curriculum (Fundamental Courses, Core Abilities Courses, General Education Courses), courses required by the College, discipline-specific required courses, and elective courses.

(9)    Proficiency tests: students must pass the Chinese and English Proficiency Tests and an Information Literacy course.

(10)  Students pursuing a double major must earn all credits required of the Department (including required courses of the college, discipline-specific required courses, and electives) and pass the Italian Language Proficiency Test in order to graduate.

 

Article 3

Students must earn the equivalent of a B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) in order to graduate. (This requirement also applies to students pursuing a double major.) A student must earn one of the following:

(1)    CILS (Certification of Italian as a Foreign Language): Uno-B1 or above

(2)    CELI (Certificato di Conoscenza della Lingua Italiana): CELI 2-B1 or above

(3)    PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri): B1 or above

(4)    Certificazione ele.IT: B1 or above

 

Article 4

If a student has not passed the Italian proficiency test by the end of the first semester of their fourth year, they must submit proof that they failed to pass the test twice. After a review, the Departmental Affairs Council may allow the student to take a written test and oral test. If the student passes the tests, they will be considered as meeting proficiency requirements.

(1) Italian Grammar is a year-long course. If a student fails either semester of Italian Grammar (I), they may not take Italian Grammar (II). If a student fails either semester of Italian Grammar (II), they may not take Italian Grammar (III).

(2) The rules mentioned in (1) above apply mutatis mutandis to Italian Conversation and Italian Reading and Writing.

 (3) A student who has earned a level of A2 on the CILS or a nationally approved equivalent is exempt from the prerequisite rules.

 (4) A student who has taken courses at the A2 level or above (minimum of 160 classroom hours) at an Italian university that has signed an agreement with the Department is exempt from the prerequisite rules.

Chapter 3: Supplementary Provisions

 

Article 6

Any matters not covered in these Regulations will be handled in accordance with Fu Jen Catholic University Academic Policies and related regulations.

 

Article 7

These Regulations will be promulgated and implemented after approval from the Departmental Affairs Council, College Affairs Council, and the Academic Affairs Council. The same procedure will be followed for each amendment.
